MEET THE STARS OF DELTA's FLEET Three major aircraft types, the L-1011, B-727-232 and DC-9-32 form the nucleus of Delta's modern fleet of jets.
The wide-body Lockheed L-1011 TriStar® features many exciting innovations in air travel, including an underfloor galley, comfortable seating, leg room galore, and individual passenger stereo systems. The 293-passenger TriStar, powered by three Rolls-Royce RB-211-22B engines, has a cruising speed of almost 600 miles per hour, a range of over 2100 statute miles and carries a crew of three pilots and eight flight attendants.
The Wide-Ride™ Boeing 727-232 is Delta's major medium-range jet, with a range of over 1500 statute miles. The 727 features a modern sculptured interior, with roomy overhead bins for carry-on articles and comfortable seating for 135 passengers. It has a cruising speed of over 550 miles per hour and carries a crew of three pilots and four flight attendants.
The Douglas DC-9-32 was designed to operate efficiently and easily on shorter-haul inter-city routes. It has a range of over 1100 statute miles and a cruising speed of 530 miles per hour. The DC-9 has a crew of two pilots and three flight attendants, and comfortably accommodates 90 passengers.
